Nartiel8k IPTV EPG: The TV Guide and Catch-Up Explained

An IPTV EPG, or electronic program guide, is the on-screen TV guide that lists what each channel is showing now and what comes next. With Nartiel8k, the IPTV EPG covers 7 days of listings, and supported channels add 7 days of catch-up, so you can play a show that already aired straight from the guide. This article covers where the guide data comes from, how your player app loads it with each login type, how catch-up differs from recording, and how to fix a guide that is empty or shows the wrong times.

What an IPTV EPG Does

On cable and satellite, the program guide travels with the broadcast signal. With IPTV, the guide is separate data: your player app downloads it over the internet, matches it to your channel list, and draws it as a grid, a "now and next" bar, or a list per channel.

A working IPTV guide does three jobs:

  • Shows what is on, with program titles, start and end times and often a short summary.
  • Lets you look ahead, so you can scroll forward and plan the evening or the weekend.
  • Opens catch-up, on channels with an archive, by letting you select a program that already aired.

Because the Nartiel8k guide holds a full week of listings, you can check the coming days from the couch instead of searching the web for a schedule.

How Player Apps Load the Nartiel8k IPTV Guide

Nartiel8k sends you one of three login types: Xtream Codes details (server address, username and password), an M3U playlist, or a MAG portal address. The route the guide takes to your screen depends on which one your app uses.

Login typeWhere the guide comes fromWhat you do
Xtream CodesThe same server as your channelsUsually nothing: wait for the first download or tap refresh
M3U playlistA separate XMLTV guide addressCheck the playlist names one, or paste it in the app's EPG field
MAG portalThe portal itselfNothing: the guide is part of the box's menu

Xtream Codes: the guide loads with your channels

This is the simplest route and the one most apps support. When you enter the Nartiel8k server address, username and password in IPTV Smarters Pro, TiviMate or another compatible player, the app asks the same server for live channels, movies, series and guide data. On a large channel list, the first guide download can take a while, so leave the app open on its home screen until the listings appear. Some apps also have a separate step: IPTV Smarters Player Lite on iPhone and iPad, for example, offers an "Install EPG" option after login. The IPTV Smarters guide walks through that app on each device.

M3U playlist: the guide is a second address

An M3U playlist is a text file with one entry per stream. It describes channels but holds no schedule. The schedule comes from a separate file in XMLTV format, a widely used XML layout for TV listings, and the player joins the two in one of two ways:

  • From the playlist header. Many M3U files name a guide address on their first line, in an attribute such as url-tvg or x-tvg-url, and most players read it automatically.
  • From a setting. Players that accept M3U links usually have an "EPG URL" or "XMLTV" field where you paste the guide address yourself.

Each channel is then matched to its listings through an ID, typically the tvg-id attribute in the playlist entry, which has to match the channel ID in the XMLTV file. When the two do not match, that channel shows "No information" while the rest of the guide works. If your M3U setup shows no guide at all, switching the same app to the Xtream Codes login often solves it.

MAG portal: the guide is built in

A MAG box connects with a portal address instead of a player app. The portal sends the channel list and the guide together, so the listings show up in the box's own TV guide menu.

Nartiel8k IPTV Catch-Up: Watching What Already Aired

IPTV catch-up, also called archive or time-shift, means the provider keeps recent programs on its servers, so you can start a show after it has aired. With Nartiel8k, catch-up reaches back 7 days on supported channels. Not every channel has an archive, and the guide is where you find out.

In most players, catch-up works like this:

  1. Open the TV guide and choose a channel with catch-up. Many apps mark these with a clock or archive icon.
  2. Scroll back to a program that has already aired, up to 7 days earlier.
  3. Select it. The player streams it from the archive, with pause, rewind and fast-forward.

Some players also let you restart a program that is still on air, handy when you tune in late. Menu names differ from app to app, so look for "catch-up", "archive" or "TV archive" on the guide screen.

Catch-Up vs Recording

People often treat the two as the same thing, but they live in different places.

For most viewers, catch-up covers the "I missed it" case with no effort. Recording only matters when you want to keep a program beyond the window, and it depends on your player having the feature and enough space.

Fixing an Empty or Shifted Nartiel8k EPG

Most guide problems come down to a handful of causes. Work through them in order.

The guide is empty

  • Let the first download finish. On a large channel list it can take a while. Keep the app open and check again.
  • Refresh the guide. Look for "Update EPG", "Refresh EPG" or "Reload" in the app's settings, and use it after the first login and whenever listings look old.
  • Check the login type. On M3U, make sure a guide address is set in the playlist or the app's EPG field, or switch to the Xtream Codes login.
  • Check the plan is active. When a subscription ends, both the channels and the guide stop.

The times are off

A guide that is shifted by an hour or more is almost always a time zone problem. XMLTV listings carry their own time offset, and the player converts them to local time using its own setting or the device clock.

  • Fix the device clock first, with automatic date, time and time zone turned on where the device allows it.
  • Check the app's EPG offset. Many players have a "time shift" or "EPG offset" setting. Set it to zero, then adjust in one-hour steps only if the guide is still wrong.
  • Watch for daylight saving time. If the guide moved by exactly one hour after the clocks changed, refresh the EPG and recheck the offset.

A few channels have no listings

This usually means a channel ID mismatch, or a channel for which no listings are published. If a channel you watch often has a blank guide, tell the Nartiel8k team on WhatsApp which channel it is and which app you use.

For device-by-device instructions, the Nartiel8k setup page covers every supported app and device, including where the guide settings live.

Nartiel8k IPTV EPG and Catch-Up FAQ

What is EPG in IPTV?

EPG stands for electronic program guide. In IPTV it is the TV guide your player downloads and displays as a grid of channels and times. On Nartiel8k, it covers 7 days of listings.

How do I use the IPTV guide in my app?

Log in with your Nartiel8k details, wait for the first guide download, then open the app's "TV Guide" or "EPG" section. Move through channels and times with the remote or touch screen, and select a program to watch it live or, on supported channels, from catch-up.

Why is my IPTV EPG not showing?

Usually the first download has not finished, the guide needs a manual refresh, an M3U setup has no guide address, or the plan has ended. Refresh first, then check the login type. If only one channel is blank, its ID likely does not match the guide data.

How does IPTV catch-up work?

The provider keeps recent programs from supported channels on its servers. You scroll back in the guide to a show that already aired and play it from the start. Nartiel8k keeps 7 days of catch-up on supported channels.

Is catch-up the same as recording?

No. Catch-up plays programs from the provider's archive and needs no planning or storage on your side, but only within the window. Recording saves a program to your device, so you schedule it and need room for it.

Nartiel8k IPTV EPG: The Takeaway

The Nartiel8k IPTV EPG gives you a 7-day TV guide, and supported channels add 7 days of catch-up you open from that same guide. With Xtream Codes the guide loads on its own, with M3U it needs an XMLTV address, and most problems end with a refresh or a time zone fix. Every plan includes the guide and catch-up; compare plans on the subscription page, or ask for the 24-hour free trial on WhatsApp to see the guide in your own app first, with no payment needed.
